CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEMS:

As the name suggests, a central heating system uses the mechanism that provides warmth to the whole house based on one central point and controls the climate in winters making the house warm. TYPES OF CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEMS:

Central heating systems are further classified into the following types based on the mechanism used:

  • Wet systems, usually using hot water or boilers

WET SYSTEMS:

As the name implies, wet systems uses fluid, especially water that is boiled ad is circulated throughout the house via pipes to keep the house warm. Usually, a heat exchanger is used to centrally heat the fluid. Radiator, besides giving radiant heat, also provides heat through convention due to which air is warmed.

WARM AIR SYSTEMS:

Warm air systems deploy a boiler usually fed with natural gas that heats the air and circulates the warm air around the house through ductwork.

Air systems are less common in today’s times and were mostly used in 70’s. Air systems are also used as cooling systems in that case cool air is circulated.

STORAGE HEATING SYSTEMS:

These heating systems usually store a large amount of heat which is released during the whole day. Heat is stored through bricks which are heated overnight and is released later on. These systems use separate wiring systems within the home. It consists of two control units one for controlling heat storage and the other one for heat release.

Modern heat storage systems have large capacity and thermostatic controls that are used to control the heat. You can also slow down the release of heat whenever your house is empty.

In distributed systems, heat is distributed in the entire house making every corner warm in chilling winters. Distributed heating systems also have further types.

STEAM RADIATORS:

It usually takes much time for the steam to warm the house up after the radiators are turned and lack modern mechanisms and are less efficient than new technologies. HOT WATER RADIATORS:

These systems use hot water running through the pipes to make the building warm. This mechanism is used in modern houses and is much better than the one used in steam radiators. The most irritating thing about the hot water radiators is the unwanted air stuck in the pipes.
